but as i am a beginner to the sport, i'm not wise to it all just yet, could someone tell me when the season starts and finishes? thank you. just so i can look forward to it. and do any teams play in between seasons? liverpool etc?

Het here is a list of all matches for next seasons. Some teams play mid season but not this year as its world cup, all their players are there but there is the community shield with Liverpool and Chelsea on 13th August

It differs, for instance almost all of the europe football leagues start in 9 or 10 month, and end around 4 or 5 month with a pause in december or january (ecxept for premiership (the english league), they play without pausing). Almost all northern countries play only during the summer because of the cold winters.
In between seasons they have a training matches (friendly matches) during their preparations for the new season.

All you need to know is that American football starts roughly at the end of August or early September.
All the other sports are not important and you don't need to worry about them.
Just have plenty of beverages and chips (potato, not fish) ready for the first opener baby.
