I think what you're thinking of is either musk (which is from a gland in a deer), civet (similar to musk but from another type of animal, I'm not sure which), Castoreum (musk from a beaver), or ambergris (which is from a whale)... These constitute the "Amber" family of perfumes...
They all smell really strong, because they're oily substances used to attract the opposite sex for mating I suppose... Anyway when combined properly, the perfume is longer lasting and the scent b/c it's oil based would leave a longer lingering smell... but then again it's of Musk... which to me smells like dried leaves mixed with armpits...

Non of my perfumes smell like sweaty armpits and I have quite a few designer ones!

p.s., the reason a perfume smells different on you than anyone else is because of your own pheromones, not what's in the perfume. There are no pheromones in regular perfume.

Its called Pheremones, and it gives different perfumes the different smells that we find on people - have you ver noticed that one perfume wont nessecarily smell the same on another person than it does on you????
