Fagan was the lead, but the record company pushed blue-eyed soul singer David Palmer on them. He most famously sang on "Dirty Work" and left after the second album. The Dan has thus had three lead singers--Fagan, Palmer, and on one song on "Everything Must Go," Walter Becker.

Chevy Chase was a friend of Fagan and Becker and played drums.
