My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child. I'm a week and 3 days past ovulation (so past hopeful conception) and I'm experiencing a good amount of clear discharge. I didn't notice these things with the first because I was already a month pregnant when I found out. (I'm more observant this time since we're trying) Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what's going on with discharge. Is it a possible sign of pregnancy or something else??

Not a white discharge...more like the discharge brought about by ovulation. ( which really got me scratching my head since I've already ovulated this month) I remembered having discharge with my first kiddo just couldn't remember when it started. :) Thanks for all of your help everyone.

Did you *definitely* have the same type of cervical fluid at the time of ovulation? If so, it is probably a sign that your period is due. Some women have wet fluid the day or two before the period. It can happen regardless of whether you got pregnant or not; it is usually just a sign of when your period was "scheduled" to start.

However, if it is really only a week and a half after ovulation (did you chart your basal body temperature to be sure?), you may have conceived, but there may not have been enough time for the fertilized egg to reach the uterus to implant before the hormones that start menstruation had already made it too late for implantation. If you were off by as little as a day or two (or even if the wet fluid continues for a full day or more), you have a good chance, but otherwise, it's unlikely.

Please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler. It has lots more details about all of the above.

Good luck!!

About how long after conception did your discharge begin?

A white discharge can be completely normal in the second half of your cycle. If you do not get your period in another week, take a pregnancy test. As long as you do hot have any vaginal bleeding, there is no reason to worry. However, just having a white sticky discharge does not mean that you are pregnant.

The discharge remains after ovulation for as long as there is sperm in residence and, since sperm can remain for usually 3, but as long as 7 days, the discharge is just flushing out now.

I just found out I'm pregnant and didn't see a discharge. Like you, we were also trying to conceive, so I was really observant. Sorry the wait is terrible, I know! Good Luck! I hope you are
