Are you talking about the actual wedding ceremony? That depends on the family you are marrying into; how traditional they are. Some marriage rituals get over in an hour or 2, some take half a day. Some of the steps involve, feeding rice into the holy fire (havan) and walking around it with your husband 7 times. The steps or customs differ with people of different Hindu communities.

One thing holds true during Hindu wedding rites, when the priest chants those 'mantras', it is very powerful, it invokes the 'Gods and Goddesses' and they bless your bond. Am sorry as I do not know how to scientifically explain the rites, if you ask the priest, they will give you a deep religious and philosphical explaination.

You had better do some extreme checking in on the laws of India before you do that. You may just be stuck there forever, that is if you husband wants to stay there.

What are you thinking??? Don't you make it your business to be informed...they have a completely different belief system over there you may find later that these differences are a prison you have to live within. I wish you the best. If you marry over there any children you have with him are his, you know that right?
