even i have faced this problem many times in windows xp. even though the BIOS detects the CD Rom. the windows dosent recognise it and shows a yellow mark stating that incorrect driver. so after trying it as many times. the only soultion that i have found is reinstalling the windows Xp. I have found this problem in only windows XP so Far.
