If your baby is happy and responsive, bonding to you and your wife, I wouldn't worry.
Being responsible for a child is scary, and it sounds like you are really worried and scared right now. Hopefully you did a background check on this person prior to letting her into your home.
It's wonderful that your wife has support from another woman. In our culture, there are few women who will bond with another woman other than her mother or sister when it comes to her child. However, I really believe that a little assistance from a good woman in the raring of a child to be beneficial to both the child and mother. It will give you a happier home providing the maid has sound references and has never been arrested in any crime associated with children.
Check your baby for bruises. If the baby doesn't show anything, and is healthy, that's great. Try to join in on the baby's doctor visits and talk with him/her about the child's development and your personal concerns.

He will probably benefit more from the maid seeing how your high class mother can't take the time to care for her own. There's nothing wrong though with letting the maid take care of the baby, at least he will be well cared for and loved. Just because a person comes from a low class background, it does not mean they are unfit to care for a baby.In some cases they're probably better than the so called high class parents. Some children grow up with only the nanny/maid there for them. I think lower class people tend to look after their children better than "some" rich folks, who have the babies then leave them with the nanny/maid to care for them while they run off to have their tea luncheon's which are so much more important it seems.

Are you seriously suggesting that it takes only money to raise a child? That how much is in your bank account or what you do for a living effects how well you can care for a baby???? That is the most ignorant thing I have read so far today.
I don't mean to be rude but I am disgusted that you think a woman (who is a human being earning a living doing a job she probably hates just to support her and her family) would have anything BUT positive effects on the baby.
You can only hope that being played with, loved, cared for and taught by many other people from many different races, classes, cultures etc will produce a wonderfully caring, sympathetic, worldly child/adult.

mMMMM Let me think - Personally I believe the mother and father of the child should raise the child to pass on family values, developing the childs character, sharing in the child's interests, witnessing the childs successes and failures, being there when the child is hurt. I get the indication that the child needs an appointment to see the parents - that's very sad. What's worse is how the family looks at others as "backward calss and lower class". That's very sad also. That the children are being brought up with such prejudise.

People who don't have the time to dedicate to kids shouldn't have them. The fact that you are sitting here asking this question to us commoners and expect real answers shows the kind of person you are. Well here it is, if we are good enough to ask this question to, then why wouldn't your maid who is probably in the same class as most of us be good enough to be around the child?

Huh? You sure are high classed! Did your parents not send you to a good school? Because the way I see it, your maid could probably speak and write English better than you do.

Traditionally royal children are cared for and raised by servants, as the parents are far too busy and powerful to do their own parenting. I think your mother is just doing what has been done for thousands of years across hundreds of civilizations. Don't worry about it.
