They really dont mean anything,they are just a way to make people think that theyre buying powerfull stuff like m-80s,when really the amount of powder inside a m-100 or m-5000 is equivilent to 40 times less than that.Dont be fooled in thinking that they are explosives when really there just firecrackers.

It refers to the grains of gunpowder in that particular firecracker. Although, government regulations in most states limits the amount of explosive that can be used. Most of your larger firecrackers have the same amount of grains of gunpowder, no matter what the number.

it is suppose to have to do with the number of grains of gun powder ...although most fireworks companies dont really stick to it correctly.
