In the USA the NFL is very cool....soccer or your football over there is not cool here...most people don't care for it.

But the NFL is a great sport here in the USA!!!!

Can't wait for the preseason! And personally I think soccer is for girls!

The NFL is not only cool but it's great! Always look forward to it in September. Soccer is OK but most Americans don't understand the game but most of our kids play it and they do love it.

But most red-blooded Americans men and women alike love American Football and the NFL.

It isn't the NFL that's cool (the organization/administration), but specifically American football that's cool.

Long kick-offs with incredible hang-time, field goals from afar, passes and receptions that are like a form of moving art (esp. in slow motion replays), big linemen who block with strategy and their running backs that can fit through holes your cat can't, hard hits (fun when your team is the one doing the hitting), coaches trying to keep their game faces and/or losing it on the sidelines, ref's who make bad calls, fans who can boo or cheer in unision better than most church choirs can sing, these are just some of the things that make it so great.

Fans get to eat, drink, cheer, boo, complain, and laugh with people who were stangers an hour ago and who will be family for the next couple of hours. They'll dress up for the team, wear the team's colors, shake shakers and noise makers, cover their faces and grab their heads after bad plays, and dance in the stands to the music when their team scores.

Yeah, people are making money . . . but on the field men are balancing high testosterone levels with their best individual performance while exercising the maturity needed to sacrifice themselves for the sake of the team and it's win. Sportsmanship, grueling physical work, endurance, stategy and respect for one's worthy opponent make football not only a national sport, but part of our culture.

At our house we even yell at the t.v. when they play out of town -- and we have a marvelous time doing it. It is a social event, and it is fun. It unites people in a city who are of differing socio-economic levels. It gives us something else to have in common. It gives us something to talk about at work on Mondays.

Men and women in England who think it is boring simply don't understand, just like Americans who write off soccer usually have never been to a game and don't understand the stamina and team work needed to excel. I'm not a big soccer fan, but I respect their level of fitness, skill, and strategy.

Hope you get the thrill of going to a game in a stadium in the U.S. one day.

Thanks for the question!

P.S. I like what Ted said about your intelligence, but as for the brawls, well, our teams sometimes do a little pushing and shoving, swinging, etc. The NFL fines the players a lot when they fight, so they have to be pretty mad to do it -- unless it is a close game with hard calls which puts everyone on edge. It's not "accepted," but the crowds usually enjoy it when someone who does not follow the rules of sportsmanship gets his. Facemasking is a good way to provoke a player.

England is into futball America is into football. Each country feels the other sport is very boring really weird because they are the two most popular sports in their respected country. Maybe your friends dont like football because they havent been exposed to it the same with kids here and soccer.

I think you need to grow up in America to appreciate the NFL. I mean what event is bigger then the Super Bowl. Nothing.

At least NFL players don't flop down to the ground every other play screaming foul.

I love soccer! Football over here in the US is amazing too. Although the fans dont fight as much (they do fight though) the actual game is kool. I play QB at my school and even wen i get hit i have a smile on my face! it's fun to watch and funner to play.

sorry mate, these americans dont know, the lads in your class are right. NFL is uncool, in more ways than one. Its all about individual, money driven players, commercials, more commercials, and fat people.
