It doesn't work that way!

Well...I sure hope he keeps his promise, but I don't think it will happen.

I read a story like that in a ladies magazine a while back about a woman that married a man that claimed that he used to be gay. She one day found out from a friend that he was at a beach for gay men. He admitted that he did not change his ways

Who knows, maybe he will be an exception to the rule, I certainly hope so for her sake and his sake.

Sister, it sounds like this man has trouble being truthful with himself -- so how can he possibly be truthful with anyone else ! ?

Does his wife want a marriage to a man she can't trust? Would he agree to go into marriage counseling to see what a professional thinks of their chances of working this out?

The situation is a bit fuzzy. What is "recently found husband is gay"? Did she recently discover he's always BEEN gay, or has he recently decided he IS gay? Or maybe he's always been gay, and recently decided it was time to tell her?

Woah... a gay guy cannot just say "Ok, I promise to be straight from now on". It don't work like that. And how was he able to pull the wool over her eyes, and pretend to be straight? I think there would have been some signs of his lifestyle, dontcha think? He just can't turn straight at the drop of a hat. They seriously need to talk things out and see what's best for them.

how long have they been married. was she satisfied with him until she found out. all these things matter a lot. was she unhappy with him. tell her to give him a chance but I doubt he will be completely straight. Once a gay always a gay. If he tries to be straight it will just be for her sake. are you sure he will do it happily ??? But it depends on your friend whether she wants to continue with the relationship or not. All the best to her and God bless them both.

If it were that simple to change your sexual preference there probably wouldn't be any gay people at all. Who would 'choose' to be on the outskirts of society, hated by many, abused and even murdered because of their sexual preference?

If your friend believes this is possible she's in for a big shake up. The husband will not change, even if he tries. He likely got married as a cover of his homosexuality or with the hopes he could change if he was with one steady woman.

She needs to get a divorce and get on with her life.

Sorry but if you are gay you are gay.
Even if he is never with another man again will he really ever be with her?
I have seen other couples in this same thing and sometimes it dose work.
I really think that if they want this to work then the need to go to counseling.

It doesn't work that way. It sounds like what he means is that he will "act" straight for her. Maybe his job depends on him being a "family man". For her own sake, she needs to get out of this fake marriage. Also, she needs to think about her health. No matter what he husband is, if he's unfaithful, there's a chance of him bringing home a disease. Please advise her to get out and move on with her life.

I don't think that you can promise to be straight. I mean he may act straight but he will still be looking at guys.
