i have the same problem... both of my parents were "night people" too... as you get older it will get better but it will never totally go away. it's just something you'll have to work around.

sleep meds won't work... they'll just make you groggier during the daytime when you need to be awake.

i've found the best thing to do is wake up at the same time and go to bed at the same time everynight you can... even weekends.

some other tricks i use that might work for you... i exercise every day, avoid caffeine after 3pm, do relaxing yoga or even just slow easy stretching in the evening. your body will start to get into the routine of winding down.

good luck.

It sucks, and there's nothing wrong with you. I got like that when my husband worked late nights. I'd stay up and sleep during the day when he slept. It's a hard habit to break, but the only way I did it was to go w/o sleep and go to bed at a reasonable hour the next day. Like, stay up all night, then all day, and then I was ready for bed around 10 or 11 at night. And it will screw with all aspects of your life. Unless you find a midnight shift job, you're going to have to get yourself on a better (and some would say normal schedule). Good luck though, hope you can get it straightened out.

First, stop taking sleep medications. Take a multiple vitamin high in vitamin B, in the morning. If you feel tired during the day take a power nap, 10 to 20 minutes max. This will give you a high boost during the day and at night you will sleep normal after a couple of days. You do not want to lay down for more then 20 minutes. It's like meditating and it really works. I have been taking power naps almost all my life, and cannot do without them. Good Luck and Sweet Dreams...

Teenager?

Stop sleeping in the day time. Go to the gym. Your sleeping habits need to be changed.
