Take it back anytime they don't get the repair right make them re-do it. Don't be afraid to be firm. Make sure to read up on any guarantees they have. But remember, when they quote you a specific repair they do not normally guarantee that is the only thing wrong with the car.

Before you take it back to the dealer you need to find out what is wrong. As some people suggested, take it to an independent repair shop and have them do a diagnostic (they probably will charge you). Also, depending whether or not you have a V6, they might have just replaced one side only. Judging from the price (which is really cheap for a head job) that is what they probably did. In which case, the other side gasket may be bad. In either case, if you went in to the dealer with the problem of overheating, and they said the head gasket would solve the problem, then they are responsible to solve your problem. If they noted other things that may be bad on your invoice, then they may be able to argue with you. Depending on what the independent repair shop finds, use those finding as ammunition against them.
If all else fails in dealing with the dealer, contact your state's consumar affairs bureau and they will help.

OK, sounds like you have another problem that they missed. Maybe a cracked head or they could have put the head gasket on upside down. Take it to a different shop. Keep all of your receipts. When you find out what they did wrong, tell them you want your money back. You can take them to small claims court to recoup. You should have no troubles winning in court if they did something wrong.

You should have a detailed list of the repairs that had been done , along with your receipt of payment ,go back to the repairshop and tell them that the repair you have already paid for did not fix the problem to your satisfaction.
Most reputable repairshops will re-check and re-do the work until the initial problem has been resolved.

first of all did you get the old parts to make sure they actually fixed it. if so, i would take it to an independent shop in the area. not only are they trustworthy, but they really deoend on everyone's business unlike dealerships. if its still overheating i would be sure all hoses are connected properly and that there is enough coolant. if those are fine i would go back to the dealerships and request a throughough system check so they can fix the problem correctly this time.

Dealer service departments gouge people on mechanical work, and half the time, they guess at it. Find a reputable mechanic on the side, it probably is a busted theromstat for $75.00.
