Try cayene pepper. Most mammals can't tolerate it. You can get products like Squirrel-Away that have a lot of pepper mixed in. Then spread it around the area that is infested. The little guys will get the pepper on their feet and in their fur. Their next grooming session will be loaded with flavor.

The urine is a good idea, also try human or dog hair.

What got the gophers (here they're called groundhogs) out from under my shed was a feral cat moving in and having kittens. After seeing mama and her 8 babies lined up on either side, they were too cute to kill.

Every morning urinate in a container and pour the contents across the path he uses, this will work! They wont like the smell on their feet and will move on to nicer smelling gardens!
