I'm playing Chrono Cross and When I went to save it it said there is no memory card in slot 1, that memory card only has 2 games saved on it, so I was really puzzled. So I opened a brand new memory card I bought the other day, that has nothing on it, and put it in Slot 2 and had the same response, I didn't get that far in the game, so I stopped right away but this is really odd, anyone have any ideas why it's doing this?

chrono cross is actually a ps1 game so you need a ps1 memory card ps2 memory cards use a new saving technology(magicgate) which for some reason (maybe sonys idea) does not work with ps1 games but you can move game saves from the ps1 memory card to the ps2 memory card

Does this happen with other games? If it is just Chrono Cross, then the problem lie there. Also make sure that it is showing up in the browser.

I had issues with my old PS2 where the slot was a little loose or something and it wouldn't always register that i had a memory card, so i had to wiggle it around untill it showed up on the browser.

not sure but if it is just on that game the problem is in the game responding to the playstation, but if it does it with other games then somthing is wrong with that slot, try memory card slot 2
