because of the surface tension forces between the liquid molecules the drop tries to get the smallest surface for the same amount of liquid and the sphere has the smallest surface for the same amount of material

Its basically due to air pressure. The drop is surrounded by air completely (when its dropping), and the surrounding air molecules exert almost equal amount of force on the liquid drop from all directions. So it takes a spherical shape.
The drop would have taken a disc like shape if air exerted force only from up and down directions(or just any 2 directions), would have taken a ovoid shape if air pressure was not uniform. In fact, spherical shape of water drops demonstrate that air molecules exert pressure equally in all directions.

all the liquid posses one force called surface tension. because of surface tension, liquid surface act as a stretched rubber. this is the surface tension phenomenon, liquid tends to attend the shape with least area.. actually due to the earth gravity, liquid does not achieve perfect spherical Sharp but in the space liquid can achieve perfect spherical shape.

a liquid drop is always taking a spherical shape because of its high surface tension

It is due to the property called "Surface Tension" due to which surface of water drop tends to be minimum. And since sphere has the solid shape which have minimum surface for same volume, thus the drop takes the shape of a sphere.

Surface tension phenomenon that tends to make the surface of a liquid have as small area as possible.

cause when you put a drop on a perfect flat plane then drop does not want to be a drop any more and not in sphere any more. the gravational force of the earth pulls the particles towards the center. science the force on each atom of the water is equal they compress towards the surface makind a circle.

It is caused by a combination of surface tension and air pressure.

it is because the forces pushing on the drop are the same all around, and the shape that is identical from all angles is speheical.
