The movie you're after is 'Vision Quest' (1985), which was also released in some countries as 'Crazy For You'. It starred Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino, and as well as Journey's 'Only The Young' it featured the Madonna hits 'Crazy For You' and 'Gambler'.
