can someone tell me what and how did people find the information they want before internet and search engines were created?other than the library, what did they do?

Well, learning evolved through people asking each other for information and passing knowledge down through the spoken word. Of course this means that a little of it got lost on the way. But an incredible amount survived. We amaze ourselves sometimes by discovering something that other people have aalways known and are surprised that we did'nt know.
Sometimes we think that we're smarter than people who lived long ago, but we just have more technology now. Imagine how clever, people like Galileo and Copernicus must have been with their astronomy studies without the instruments that we now have.
