My comp config: AMD Athlon64 3000+, 1GB DDR400 RAM, 120GB Seagate 7,200rpm HDD, Sony DVDRW. Can I run 64bit Vista Beta? I've already received the DVD for both 64 & 32bit versions.

The 64 bit version of Vista only runs on 64 bit procsers, which I believe the Athlon64 is. At worst, if you attempted to install the program, it would error out and you would have to start over with the 32 bit instead. Unlikely that it would damage you PC.

The 64 bit version has been maximized to be able to use 64 bit processors and (eventually when they come on the market) 64 bit programs. At this time there are no 64 bit programs available.
With the trend at the moment being towards dual core processors and away from 64 bit one, it remains to be seen if any 64 bit programs ever make it to the market.

However, as the 64 bit version of Vista is completely compatible with current 32 bit software, if you installed it, you would still be able to use current and future 32 bit program, should the 64 bit processor be abandoned.

vista 64 bit will take up more ram for the same aplications as 32 bit. honestly right now there is no need for 64 bit applications, especially in the consumer market
