Zippy is a puppet, I learned that years ago when I was just a small child, this will probably hurt you now like it hurt me then, but you will have to get over it, I know its hard when you learn that your fav celeb is not a real person - but I am afraid its true, never mind you have always got Bungle to fall back on - now he is real person and don't let anyone tell you different - "Up above the streets and houses rainbow climbing high, everyone can see it smiling, over the sky, paint the whole world with a RAINBOW".

I think people are getting hold of the wrong end of the stick- I believe ALAN B meant 'which animal does he represent?' For example, George is a hippo, Bungle is a bear. So what's Zippy? A peanut? A rugby ball? I don't know, I'm afraid.

I learned at university, that he was supposed to be a Gollywog and that black childeren were supposed to identify with him more, and that the show in that respect is quite racist. All of my family said this theory was nuts by the way.
