There are many forms of love, each form is slightly different to the next.

Take this statement;.... Teresa loves John.. what impression do you get of this love? Possibly romantic?

Now take;.... Mother Teresa loves Jesus.. has this statement changed your perspective on love? Romance doesn't come near to how this feels.. this is a Pure Love, love without question or conditions.

A love of a child is not romantic but a similar unconditional love that is pure.

Love doesn't have to be about a person at all.. if you have ever seen a beautiful sunset that takes your breath way you may experience that feeling of wonder and emotion that fills you up and makes you feel great, is love.

Beautiful music that makes you get goose pimples and lifts your spirit is giving you a feeling of love.

Love is an energy that we can tap into in any situation. A healer offers unconditional love to complete strangers because of their desire to heal another human being of their pain be it physical or mental.

When we let love of any form into our lives we become a more whole person. Its like a form of currency,... the more you have to give out and give freely.... the more you will get back in return. That's part of the universal law.

If your reading this... my unconditional love has just been sent to you.

Love is a subjective thing. What is love for one may not be love for another. Love can also be mistaken. That is why there are other words like lust, crush, puppy love, etc. Love is rarely an instant thing. Love at first sight is rarely true and rarely lasts. Love is something that is built carefully and on a strong foundation of trust, truth, commitment and communication. I ran across a quote that I really liked... can't remember where it came from. "The world moves for love, the world kneels in awe before it"

Love is mostly a conscious or unconscious self-suggestion process which brings the subject to a state similar to mental illness, to the extent that the subject is distorting the reality by seeing the object of love as an ideal being.
For instance, a parent is going to view his/her child as the cutest and smartest person on earth, a person will see his/her partner as the most beautiful person and idealize his/her personality.
Some clinical studies alledgedly proved that persons in love show some biochemical characteristics that are encountered in paranoid subjects.

There is no exact meaning but we can make a close meaning. I believe that love is neither a good or bad feeling. You probably think it is good but it isn't always good. Some people say that love never fails and is kind. Some people just don't understand that meaning. Love can betray us, it has happened. Love can make people do stupid things such as commiting suicide, stealing, hurting, et cetera. We must control love and keep it as a good feeling.

Well now LOVE has two meanings. If it is EROS(Latin) it refers to Romantic and Passion. Another definition for Love comes from the Greek-AGAPE which is unconditional love for all people. Accepting them, right where they are, right here and right now,not seeing their faults, although they may be definitely there! I like the definition that was given to me in a Meditation! LOVE is Lives of Varied Expression! We are all human beings on this planet, yet we are not the same do to Culture and Geographic Location, so we live lives of varied expression. Yet, we all should love one another as ourselves and respect each other! The great Teachers of the past have given us this message, yet there is still much room to go in this matter! There is only one Race of people on Earth-Human!

The term 'love' as we know it today was derived in the 14th Century, while the crusades were killing thousands of non-believers. Before 'love' people were married by negotiation. A father 'gave' his daughter away for a nice sum of many.
"Romantic love" was invented by the French Tropadors.
There are so many different types of love: love of oneself, love of a wife/husband, puppy love, love for your child, love for a pet, etc. Each one contains its own set of rules and regulations, i.e.: Conditions.
It is a feeling, an as such difers from person to person and culture to culture. Like jealousy- how could you define that?
So, there is NO EXACT meaning of love! Unfortunately, lust is many times confused with love.

I don't think there is definitely ONE answer to this question but maybe what comes close is:
LOVE is the giving of support, companionship, goodwill and compassion to another without thinking what there may be in it for you.
Ideally, Love should be selfless but unfortunately some of us have a bigger Ego than others and are therefore misguided into a search to receive love instead of looking to emanate it from within.

Selflessness is the exact synonym for love. Letting go of the self, and being more concerned for others. This will also enable oneself to love oneself better. Giving is love. Selflessness and giving are the only objective definitions you will get.

One may assume selfishness is self love, but generally when we disregard others, it is a mirror to how one feels about themself. That is not love.

Love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with a soaking joy. But sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.

Love touches us for one time, but it lasts for a lifetime

Sometimes love can be magical..but magic can be an illusion

Some say love, it is a river that drowns the tender reed.
Some say love, it is a razor that leaves your soul to bleed.
Some say love, it is a hunger, an endless aching need.
I say love, it is a flower, and you it's only seed.
