- pure water is colourless because it doesn't absorb any "colour" the human eye can perceive (electromagnetic waves which wave length is between 400 and 700 nanometers). As a result, the water seems colourless to our human eyes;
- pure water is odourless because the nervous cells in human nose don't get excited by H2O molecules.

Water is colourless, i guess, because the energy gaps between electrons in a water molecule is wider that the energy of a photon. Therefore, the electrons cannot absorb the photons, and they simply pass through the water molecule. I have no clue why water is odourless.

Cause there is nothing in it.
Serious. H2O is the basic building block that's in everything. We can not tell it apart because it is everywhere. Hence odorless.
It is colorless because it does not absorb light...why not? Damned if I know it just doesn't.
