The highest score in an ODI match is 438/9 by South Africa. It was against Australia in Johannesburg. It is funny that before this match no team reached a score of 400 in ODI's, and Australia broke that record by scoring 434/4 runs in the match. But this record was short lived as Herschell Gibbs was on fire. He scored a quick fire 180 runs. This helped South Africans gain the momentum to reach this mammoth target. It was a team effort and this match has already gone as one of the "Best Games", in the books of history. This match saw another record being broken, that was of highest runs given in 10 overs by a bowler, it was Australian bowler who gave away 113 runs in his quota of 10 overs, vreaking the record of Muttiah Muralitharan. Which was incidentally created at the same ground.
