Or do you mostly just draw on the style that you mostly play? I mostly played rock when I was learning guitar, but I also listened to and tried to learn from and imitate jazz, blues, and country guitarists as well. It helps broaden your playing abilities and gives your style a little more uniqueness.

the more i learn to play the more i realize that its all good the more i draw from others! it's a wonderful cycle that just lets me know i still gotta practice lots.

Brad Paisley said he didn't consider himself a good player until he learned his way around a jazz song. I dig Buddy Guy, BB King, Angus Young, Eric Clapton, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Dave Mustain, and of course JIMI and SRV

I think good musicians try and draw from as many different styles as possible. Even rap and hip hop artists are sampling from Classical music and Broadway musicals as well as old rock songs. The Beatles played with Ravi Shankar, Paul Simon sang with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Debussy is considered by some to be the father of jazz.
I personally am very interested in musics of other cultures, like India and various African regions. I am a classically trained musician, but I became bored with the Western tonality and "broadened my horizons". I even went to India to study with some gurus. It was a great experience.
Keep doing what your doing, and have fun!

I have played so many different styles of music that i think I blend them all together in my playing style. I was trained as a concert pianist and guitarist. Now, I play alot of steely dan, bb king, Eric Clapton, and beatles. But I think that there would be no music if musicians were not inspired by each other. If you ask any musician they take their playing style from others, and tweak it a bit to fit them better. No matter what music is supposed to be about having fun and making something that's you. Keep doing it and just go with it!
