Living is dangerous, so aspects of sports are too. However, most athletes are well-protected by any gear necessary to play that particular sport. Still, there are injuries. Most deaths that have occurred have been because of a precondition where the athlete was unaware of the seriousness of his/her health.

Except for some of the injuries that occur, no. Man needs sport not only to participate in but to watch. Relieves the stress of that day.
