1.Uneven as was the moonlight over the pond,there wes a harmony between light and shade,rhythmic as a well-know melody played on the violin.
2.The moonlight on the pond was not uniform but light and shadow made up a harmonious rhythm like a beautiful tune played on a violine.

The first one sounds more like poetry and the second one just sounds like a description.
The first one is definately the prettiest way of saying it!

I prefer 2 mainly because I don't think the word "uneven" works.

#2, Because it has a continuous flow. #1 is broken, and therefore, doesn't mesh together well.
