Nadal is actually right handed, but he trained to hit left. I think he likes a two handed forehand, which is his backhand.

He plays left-handed. But he does everything else right-handed. Check out this source for information about how his uncle got him playing left-handed:

There are very few lefties on tour and Nadal is the only top-ranked one. It's a huge advantage, especially in the first set while his opponents are adjusting to the reverse kick on the ball

he is a righty yet plays lefty to have a better two hand backhand

It was his uncle/coaches idea because not many players have a strong backhand
