History has reflected on the executions of men too scared to fight in WW1, and no-one credibly believes those executions were justified. So consensus is, no, they should not have been shot.
It follows that the traditional view of not shooting women who are afraid of something still stands.

I WAS NOT AWARE THAT MEN WERE SHOT FOR SAYING THEY WERE FRIGHTENED,,
IS THIS A FACT?
IF THEY WERE FRIGHTENED, AND KNEW THEY WOULD BE SHOT--FOR SAYING THIS, IT SEEMS TO ME, THEY WOULD NOT LET THAT INFO OUT ESPECIALLY IF THEY WERE ALREADY FRIGHTENED.
THERE ARE REPORTED CASES THAT SOME SOLDIERS WERE SO FRIGHTENED, BECAUSE THEY WERE ABOUT TO GO TO THE FRONT LINES, AND THEY WERE ALMOST CERTAINLY ABOUT TO DIE, AND THEY WOULD EXPERIENCE A "CONVERSION REACTION" WHICH MEANS, THE BRAIN, STEPPED IN, AND THEY WOULD THINK THEY DONT WANT TO DIE, YET THEY DONT WANT TO BE A COWARD, YET THEY HAVE A SWEETHEART, AND FAMILY AT HOME, AND WANTED TO GO HOME,, SO THEY WOULD GET PARALYZED, OR BLIND FROM FEAR, AND THIS IS REAL IT IS A CONVERSION REACTION, WERE THEY TO BE SHOT ALSO
WHAT DOES BEING A WOMAN HAVE TO DO WITH IT, ORDERS ARE ORDERS, THEY MUST BE OBEYED, THE WOMEN KNOW THIS, AND TAKE AS MUCH ABUSE AS COMES THEIR WAY..
BUT NO, THEY SHOULD NOT BE SHOT, HOWEVER, THE CIRCUMSTANCES YOU ASK, ARE NOT SPECIFIC,,, SO WHO KNOWS

It was wrong that men were shot for saying they were frightened. However, if we imagine that it was right for men to be shot, then I think it would also be right for women to be shot. I hope you don't see this the wrong way, I just mean that this kind of thing wouldn't be justified for men and not for women.

If anyone wasn't frightened in WWI, then either they weren't in a position that really scared them senseless, or they are insensitive. Or they are just covering up their fear with fake machoism.
Shooting people because they are fearful. That surely brings out fear in otherwise unfearful people.

no one should be shot for feeling frightened, it's a natural, healthy emotion and a basic human instinct....people are just ignorant.
