Because truth often hurts...

Communication is a two way thing...
and it's not limited to verbal expression.

Often times, people are so in need of connectivity, they will make blanket statements based on that need.
My favorite example of this is:
"I accept you for who and what you are".
Ever hear this?

Then the speaker of those words suddenly has trouble following through - has trouble with the recipients life choices and wants to make enormous change with words like: "I would like you better if..."

The origional statement was based on need.
Once that need was met; then came the desire to have connectivity on their own terms - selfish perspective and fairly immature.

Blanket statements like that are common...yet immature forms of relationship establishment skill sets. Usually relegated to specific groups and ages.

It will change in time.

As people mature and grow more comfortable with themselves...they lie less: accept more.

People all listen through filters. Often what others are trying to tell us is misinterpreted because of poor choice of words or of differences in definitions. I find it useful to repeat what I understand that person to be saying back to them so they know what I heard. That prevents misunderstandings. Hope that helps. I don't understand about the lying part, it's kind of vague what you mean by it so I'm not going to try and respond to it. Sorry for that.

I always say what I mean. But obviously I'm not perfect so I do say the odd white lie though, nothing major or life changing.I know what you mean though, some people just seem incapable of being honest,it's very sad.
