Well it would be pretty difficult to give a good answer here, since this forum was really not designed for math questions. I need to use equations and graphs would really help.

Anyway, the slope of a line is the change in y divided by the change in x. (delta x over delta y or rise over run) I wish I could show this to you graphically, but just imagine drawing a right triangle under the line so that one line is perpendicular to the x axis and parallel to the y axis (vertical) and the other is perpendicular to the y axis and parallel to the x axis (horizontal) Then the slope is the length of the vertical line divided by the length of the horizontal line. You can also think of it as the rate of change of y with respect to x. For a simple example, if y=3x, then every time x increases by 1 unit, y will increase by 3 units and the slope is 3..

To find the slope when you're not given an equation but points, just take the difference of the y values over the difference of the x values. The slope will be:
y1-y2
-------
x1-x2
In this case, (3- -1)/(0-2) = 4/ -2 = -2 The slope here is -2.

Now the y-intercept of the line is the value of y when x is 0. When you write the equation for the line in standard form,
y=mx+b,
y=b when x=0.
Here the intercept is actually given to you, (0,3)

So your equation is y=-2x+3. Check this with the other point.
-1= -2*2+3?
-1= -4+3= -1 => It checks.

I really hope this helps. If this doesn't make sense to you still, definitely go talk to your teacher for a little extra help.

slope of line= y2-y1 divided by x2-x1
= -1-3/2-0
= -4/2
= -2
equation of line passing through two points is
y-y1= y2-y1/x2-x1(x-x1)
y-3= -2(x-0)
y-3= -2x
y= -2x+3
on comparing above equation with standard slope -intercept form y= mx+c (here m is slope and c is y intercept)
slope of line = -2 ,y intercept = 3

Y=ax+c
Y=slope,C=intercept
3=(ax0)+c
=0+c=0
-1=(ax2)+c
=2a+c
