technically life begins at conception however yes in a way life does begin at 40 becase by then it is assumed that you have "found your feet". You are financially stable, in a stable relationship, know who you are and what you want and have gotten rid of all your insecurities.

Poor people who died before they were 40, they haven't lived at all. Or to young people, for that matter if this is the case. I am 3 years away from 40 and I don't like to think that my life has not begun yet.

This is just a figure of speech and we should not wait till we're 40 to enjoy life. It could be that at this age, people reach a certain sense of maturity and outlook in life that the younger generation does not have. They have gone through a lot of situations, good and bad, been there, done that, had a series of successes and failures in life that they know what works and what doesn't, what to worry about and what to just leave as it is. As such, they know how to enjoy their life better than the younger generation who is usually more worried about a whole bunch of things, important or not, rather than enjoy what life has to offer.

In life's cycles, 28-35 years would be the age where the energy is at the maximum, hence, this is the age where usually, professionally, physically, (financially maybe), mentally, a person is at his peak and when he uses his energy in the achievement of his life's goals. Usually, it is all work and work, time when he starts a family and works towards the set-up of his home and at most, when he is a the peak of his performance in life, in general. 35-42 years would be the time when he sits back and enjoy the fruits of his labor, gets rest from his toils and generally, slows down and takes it easy. Hence, 40's would be the time when a person is settled and does not have to run around and prove his own worth.

Well, I'm not forty yet, and I feel alive, so I would say it begins about 40 years before 40.

I don't agree because at 40 one is shocked how quickly one has become old and then you start trying all that you have never done thinking that life has just began it's only the fear of the truth.

Life is better the older one gets. I know that much so far! I think there could come an age that it wouldn't be so much fun to be because of feebleness or sickness. But I wouldn't want to be 10 or 14 or 22 or 30 again. The age I am now is MUCH BETTER!!!

Your life will change around 40 and it can be the beginning of the most enjoyed. You're wiser and appreciate everything that's truly important if you're not majorly stressed and living your life stressed.

HELL yeah!!! I can't wait to become 40, kids are raised, hubby and I are settled, debts paid off, and once I turn fourty if I need them I'll have an eye job, facelift(non surgical) liposuction, tummy tuck. I'll buy hermes scarf so I can wear them without looking ridiculous as I do now.
Only 17 years to go!

No. Life constantly dies and then begins again, every time you have a life changing experience......ie: divorce, a new love, having a child, changing careers, etc. But if you're wondering if 40 is old............it's not. Only ppl in their 20's think so.......... and people in their 50's think it's young......... it's all relative.
