* The Highlander was released in 1986. It is the one to get.
* Highlander 2:the Quickening was released in 1991 Russell Mulcahy the director disowned it because of changes made by the suits.
*Highlander III: the Sorcerer from 1994
*Highlander IV:Endgame from 2000 tried to merge the movie and the series.
Many fans disown the final three movies. Another movie is being shot although it might straight to DVD.

There are 4 so far - and 1 in production.
The first time I saw Highlander (the first one) I said I was jealous of all the people who HADN'T seen it yet - 'cos they'd get to see it for the first time!
The first link below is to the internet movie data base page for the Highlander movies and series; and the second link is all about the new movie which had a working title of "Highlander: The Source" and it looks as if they are keeping this as the release title. Sounds interesting.

I'd say the first one was the best, the second was carp, the third was ok, didn't bother with the 4th.
Though unfortunately the first one has dated somewhat

4 in total. the 3rd and forth went straight to video. No 1 was the only good 1. the rest were very dissapointing. the last introduced adrian paul as the new highlander, which was basically an extended version of the tv show.

There are four now a fifth coming out sometime this year. I think the best on is Highlander End Games.

The first one was excellent ... the second one was ok but a bit out of step with the first. I thought it was better with the mystery of not knowing where they all came from and how they got to earth ... finding all that out kind of spoilt it.. 3 and 4 ... didn't see them. Wanted to maintain what was left of the good memories of the first. Caught a couple of the TV episodes but thought it was a bit damp, though quite well made and reasonably well acted. Not sure I'll bother with the 5th ...

There are 4 as far as i know, and I guess the first one is the best.
I also loved the TV series with Adrian Paul.

1 is the best and 3 is quite good the second one is a little off beat though very sci fi but still good:))
