Most people i know who have been to Amsterdam are interested in the following:
- the liberated view on drugs
- the red light district
- Night Clubbing
Meeting locals is not on the agenda. Meeting the opposite sex is though, whatever nationality :)
If you could include a few venues that have one of these ingredients then you could be quite successful.

Yes , I would. Off the beaten path where all the locals go is the best way to learn about a city/place. You find there is much more to Amsterdam than you realized and more more informative, I know as we took a tour like that last year.

well i've also stayed in frankfurt, germany for 2 months and i've been through mostly all the city by myself just to see everything. not just the skyline, some church, zoo and so on, but to see eeeverything.
so yeah, i'd take the tour, no beer thanks, maybe a tea. 15 euro is pretty cheap. but what about transport?and security in case you're not gonna go in one of the best areas? oh, and i'd try to see if the tour guide has qualifications for that. he/she should b registered with the government. that offers you a bit of safety that the person wont take you god knows where, kick ur **** and steal everything off you.
anyway, hugs!

Wow. a lot Amsterdam hate. for sure from people who purely ever went to the purple easy District. huge FYI to all you morons, Amsterdam - and the Dutch often - is an exceedingly cultural place. a number of the worlds appropriate museums, orchestra's and artwork may be got here across interior the city. it quite is a great city that could desire to be experienced. Paris is possibly extra "significant" to pass to, yet Amsterdam might desire to be severe on your record in case you desire a great cultural journey.
