If Kurt Cobain had lived I dont think that Nirvana would have gone on much further. Kurts drug usage and marriage to Courteny Love would definatly take its toll on the band,and cause issues Im sure.
Hearing what is left of the band Nirvana playing as the Foo Fighters .. I was amazed! it seems that they went from grungy to yuppie. Hearing them really makes me think that Nirvana's career would have not gone on much longer had Kurt lived.
I could though see Kurt having gone solo.. but thats where I stop. Because Kurt is dead and Nirvana in all its glory lives on. Live fast die young and leave a good looking corpse :)

I would say yes....Nirvana was already pretty much revered as they are today at the time Kurt died. I guess it all depends on what kind of music they would have made after. I suppose it's possible they could have diluted their legacy, but I tend to think Nirvana would not have existed much longer anyway.

I don't think so.
They would have still been considered a great band symbolic of the 90's Grunge/Alternative movement, but I don't think Cobain would have been immortalized as a "legend" comparable to the likes of Jimi Hendrix or Jim Morrison (as was being said about him after he died) if he were still alive.

No i think they would have got old and then faded away. When you die at the top as Kurt did, you will always be more remembered and have a greater influence, because you never get the chance to get boring.

maybe but it would have been different the affect of thier music would have been greater but they wouldn't have the whole suicide story to back up their views(all in all nirvana sucked)

of course their music is still being played on the radio today, they were a big hit and a new sound for their day

if cobain lived? we will not have Foo Fighters. i dunno, maybe cobain would have gone soft rock on us or he would done what eddie vedder of pearl jam is doin now. go all soft and weird , then come back with a hard bang. check out pearl jam latest. bloddy awsome!!
