I got a scholoarship to study engineering, but I've decided to go ahead and be an optometrist. To study optometry you just have to have a bachelors in something science like. Well, I figured if I want to keep my engineering scholorship I could get my bachelors in biomedical engineering then go back and do optometry. I'm going to the University of Texas in Tyler in August, but they only offer civil and mechanical engineering. UT in Austin offers biomedical, but I'm confused.....they don't specify if it's an undergrad. degree or not. If anyone knows...let me know.

I am an entering freshman at Temple University. My major is biomedical engineering (aka bioengineering). I am setting a plan on attending Medical School after completing 4 years of engineering. Biomedical engineering is a 4 year degree, and is an excellent pre-med major. Med schools and optometry love engineering majors.
UT (Austin) offers a wonderfull program in biomedical engineering. They have a 4 year undergrad program as well as the graduate program.
I wound highly recommend attending UT.
