He restricts my breathing or pins me down or twists my arm behind my back. Not often, but in 5 months it has happened 3 or 4 times. I love him a lot.

No, this is not in a sexual way.
And this man is very much in love with me, just very protective and very proud. He has only hurt me when I have embarassed him publicly or done things he has specifically asked me not to do.

leave your partner what he is doing to you is abuse it doesnt matter if it is physical or not.....your partner is responsible for his own actions, feelings and thoughts no matter what he tells you that you did to bring it on, it is in no way your fault and you did not provoke him this is just a way of directing what he did back to you so that you look like the person at fault, he doesnt love you, anyone who loves a person will not abuse them but instead look out for their wellbeing instead. love doesnt have to hurt......

It may be a thrill he gets and someday he might not stop and they will find your body lifeless . He is over powering you for what reasons ? Control ? He needs help , you need to be really loved .But it starts with you leaving ! And don't go back , it cases a person has called , a week later " I'm sorry can we talk ? " They meet and the victim if killed out of the anger . Loss of air can do damage each time . Ask you DAD if he understand s this behavior ? The guy has issues and your the release , I'd believe he'll get worse. Protect yourself PLEASE ! Go to family , stay away .Not someone you'd want to marry , how would you stop him from holding a child down in a tub ( not often and just restricting breathing a little) ? Can't see it now , will it take your life or your baby ( if you decide to stay "out of love" ) .

Perhaps for now he does not hurt you physically more than what he does - but who is to say that one day he might not become so enraged and he goes overboard? Are you simply waiting for this to happen? And then you will ask - what do I do next? I love him and don't want to leave him? You will surely become another statistic if you don't stand up to him NOW. NO ONE - EVER should hit another - No matter the reason. Even if one provokes another, there is NO REASON why hitting should be done.
You are on the threshhold of an abusive relationship, so I suggest that you get out before this takes a turn for the worst and we read about you in the local paper - your obituary.

Dump the weirdo before he "really" hurts you and you'd live to regret it for the rest of your life. Let him get a female wrestler who ought to teach him a lesson or two in manhandling the physically-inferior gendre.

Your partner is abusive, and will kill you one of these days. Restricting your air is attempted murder. No provocation can lead to such behavior and you should get the hell away from this man. I'm serious.

Tell ya what, my husband choked me once and I couldn't swallow for a week. I am talking I only drank water and broth because he crushed my larynx. If it had gotten any farther I would have DIED. Do you like to be physically restrained? HELL NO IT ISN'T RIGHT!!!!!!!!!! Have a little respect for yourself and get the hell out of there. Would he like it if you restrained him??????????

NO !!!! .. this is never ok. He has to stop it and you should not tolerate it. If he continues you should consider a restraining order against him.
