I'm not sure it makes a lot of sense to try to pick a "greatest" in such a diverse category. Suffice it to say that Miller's name belongs in the conversation, along with Euguene O'Neill and Tennessee Williams. Surely, "Death of a Salesman," "All My Sons," and "The Crucible" are enough to make Miller one of the ones, now and forever.

Yeah, like a Marxist is really going to be the greatest American Dramatist, when the majority of people in America worship the capitalistic state and think that the American Dream means the pursuit of money. If you means in terms of the aesthetic quality of the work, without any consensus as to the quality of the work itself, then my friend, I would strongly disagree with your judgement.

It's between him and O Neill. Both wrote classics. I think because O Neill left more of a body I'd go with him but the salesman is a gem. I met him briefly in Dublin some years ago.
