Hello,

My transition has came a long way and now I am ready to tell my clients and go full time living in my desired roll full time. I own my business in computer network and system administration, most of my clients are doctor offices and all are related in a perfessional field. What is the best way to tell my clients and try to have a successful out come? I was thinking of a letter, photo, and setting up an appointment to disclose face to face... Please give me your input in regards to this.

Thank you so much!

For most, I would probably consider a professional, yet conversational letter along with a "normal" photo of how you will look full-time -- so they'll recognize you on-site.

A web site where one can go for more information, if necessary, could be helpful as well. (Note: The web site shouldn't be a deep dark personal diary; it should just cover the realities of what you're doing in a generalized way.)

If there are clients you feel might be uncomfortable/unsure about what you're doing, you might want to arrange a one-to-one meeting with your point person there, to talk them through it and reassure them that nothing will change for them.

I'm not sure of the specifics of your work, but administering networks for medical facilities and other places means you are potentially able to access "sensitive information," and you're also in control of keeping their information and systems flowing (important for them).

While you know your transition will not affect your work at all, some of your clients might not understand that and could need reassurance that you are completely sane and professional and that this change will not impact them in the least.

(This is just the unfair reality of the situation, so you should take whatever steps you can to make this transition easy for them as well.)

You do not need to disclose yourself to any new clients, unless they ask you. Good luck!

Well, it depends on how well you know your clients. Take a personal approach to each client, for instance some may prefer a letter, where as others may prefer an appointment.
Also start with the ones that you know will take it easier than the ones that won't... build your confidence like that.
But it is better that they find out from you rather than from some one else.
Maybe you can have a little cocktail party for all the clients and just arrive in a fabulous dress?
Good luck.

The most important thing is to be open, honest, and up front, while being professional at the same time. They need to be comfortable that the service they get from you will not change, but they also don't want to be surprised.
I think the letter and appointment will be enough.

I think those are great ideas. A letter and photo should be efficient. You could set up a website with info too and direct people there. I'm sure people will be very accepting. Good luck!

It depends. Do they think you're a man or a woman now? And how will your transition change them outlook of you? Maybe I misread the question, but which sex are you living as now, and will they take notice? If not, don't worry about it. If so, well, depends on how well you know them.

Who do you feel like they have to know? The way I see it, whether or not they find out, it doesn't really have a lot to do with your professional dealings with them.
