As long as you go for regular check ups, and you get the okay, you are fine and so is the baby. My neighbor just had a baby at 42 weeks, and she is gorgeous! Best of luck!

The medical staff should be keeping an eye on the health of both you and your baby so I wouldn't worry too much (easy for me to say).
You could try taking a long walk, eating a curry and sex is supposed to be a good one because the hormone sperm contains can trigger labour (who really feels like sex 40+ weeks- if you are really desperate give anything a go!). Drinking raspberry leaf tea (the proper kind not just flavoured) ripens the cervix. I'm not sure how long this takes to have an effect as I drank it from 36 weeks+.
Good luck.
PS Words of advise
1.When in labour don't give up just think that every pain is bringing you closer to holding your new baby
2. A position I felt comfortable in towards the end of labour (if your partner will be present) is to sit on his knee when he has his legs spread. This keeps your pelvis open and helps the baby because you are going with gravity.
3.Get some sleep while you can!

It will be fine - and so will you! Most hospitals in N.Ireland will let you go 10 over due, then induce you, but it's not the preferred way because it's not so natural. You may well just be less pregnant then you thought. The date of conception is estimated using the date you last menstruated (1st scan) and the size of the baby(20 week scan). My date was changed 3 times and they still got it wrong! But don't worry. If the Dr's think there's any problems they'll take you in.They will eventually take you in anyway to start the birth after about 10 overdue.
Try a hot curry and a bit of sex. It worked for me.
Good Luck
and congrats!!!

I once heard someone say that Nature makes the last few weeks of pregnancy deliberately uncomfortable so women will be keen for labour to start just to get the baby out.
Sometimes babies just don't want to budge. It might need a helping hand. Most hospitals will not induce until at least 42 weeks. Remember, your due date is only an estimate. Most people don't know exactly when their baby was conceived, and because your due date is calculated from the first day of your last period, it is not accurate. Your baby will come when it's ready.
I wish you lots of luck and I hope you will be holding your new baby in your arms very soon. Good luck for the birth. X

It's simply not ready to come out and face the world as yet. How many days overdue are you? they usually induce you after 10 days in the uk. If the baby is movig ok and heart beat is fine i wouldnt worry even though you will. If your really fed up have a really hot bath, a hot cuury for dinner some pineapple for dessert and a nice bit of sex and another bath. This is supposed to help think it may be a myth but hey give it a go. Good Luck with the baby xxx

I was a nurse in a hosital and took care of the newborns.
My own daughter was born at 41 weeks. When it is time, the baby will come out. Just make sure that you always feel movement even if you have to make the baby move yourself.
I am sure your doctor is keeping a close watch on you. Good luck on being a mother.

When i had my first, i was induced at 42weeks. He was fine in those extra weeks. They stay in there for a reason, they aint ready to come out. They induce usually after 42weeks as the placenta wont work as well. But each hospital has its own policy. The baby will be fine. Everything will be ok, and stop stressing! Seriously everything wil be fine!

You poor thing! I went through the same thing and my son is fine but he was a big baby. The main thing to remember is that the longer a baby stays in the healthier they usually are so try not to worry. My doc told me to try anything that is comfortable like walking, sex {it is the orgasm that helps contract your muscles}, and any type of exercise you are used to doing. As long as the doc isn't worried try not to be yourself, this will all be over soon enough. Good Luck, I'll pray for ya!
