I would say take the pill the hysterectomy is a last resort if you know you will not wont more children. I am 42 and have had some heavy periods I have never been on the pill but try ed other things to control bleeding I have 3 children and was sterilized 15 years ago but still the Dr is not keen for me to have a hysterectomy it is quite a mager operations and takes weeks if not months to recover

hysterectomy seems alittle drastic since you haven't tried another form of bc. Maybe ask your doctor about getting the hormone free iud. You may have some reservations because of all the bad press they got in the 70's, but they're alot safer now, are more effective than birth control pills, and are hormone free so you won't have to worry about weight gain, mood swings, or lack of sexual drive. I'm getting mine put in at the end of the month.

If you get a hysterectomy you are prematurely menopausal by default, and you get all the usual menopausal problems like skin and hair changes, hormonal fluctuations, loss of bone density, vaginal dryness, night sweats and an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.
I would seriously consider talking to your doctor again and possibly getting a second opinion before you take a step as drastic as a hysterectomy.

by way of fact beginning administration does not look after you from STDs. purely a condom can try this. that's great that your gf is on beginning administration, as you're precise approximately it being extra valuable against being pregnant. even with the incontrovertible fact that oral beginning administration and different contraceptives, such by way of fact the beginning administration rings and photographs, do no longer look after you or her from STDs. Pulling out/taking flight (despite you want to call it) is likewise for the prevention of being pregnant, no longer STDs. the only time it quite is risk-free to no longer use condoms is whilst the two certainly one of you're monogamous and the two certainly one of you have recently been checked for STDs and HIV/AIDS, and had unfavourable consequences for sure. whether you recognize you and your companion have been monogamous, you may desire to the two be examined each 6 months just to make advantageous. undergo in innovations which you do no longer might desire to have intercourse to get HIV/AIDS, and the final difficulty you want to do is supply your companion an STD.
