most definitely not, 10000P will only get you through a day at any 5star hotel, logging, food, transport and all.

Don't believe what you read on yahoo answers but go to the government authorities. If you bring in more than 10000 Philippine Pesos (which is not very much), not just US$ or AUD$ or S$, but 10000P, not only do you need to declare it on paperwork given for entry into Philippines, but also on exit, but you also require the authorisation of the Bangko Sentro ng Pilipinas beforehand. ,“Any person can bring in and out of the country legal tender notes and/or coins in the amount not to exceed P10,000.00 as provided for under BSP Circular No. 98, Series of 1995. Larger amounts require authorization from the BSP.” .

No you can't bring out more than 10,000 Philippine Pesos or bring in more than $10,000 without declaring it on your customs form. Bring new $100 bills that have no tears or stray marks in them to get the best exchange rates. Forget travelers checks here, they are practically useless outside of manilla or Cebu.

The maxium amount of money you can bring to the PI without having to declare it is 10,000 USD. If you have a BPI accounrt here you can send the money first then pick it up later at the bank in the the PI there. That way you are not stpuid enought to lose it.

They do not check the amount of money you bring in anyways, so that should not be a cause of worry. As long as you will not be bringing in a bagful of cash, I do not think it will matter if you are bringing in more than PhP 10,000.

I think it's the other way around. You can't take out more than 5,000 pesos. You can bring in unlimited amount of foreign currency
