situation: Me and a friend are interested in playing together in a "band". i currently own a Fender Squier Strat. my friend is going to buy an electric guitar

complcation: he likes the ibanez starter kit [www.musiciansfriend.com]

question: will there be a difference in tone/sound? will it be very clear and very different? should he dig further into his pocket and get a matching guitar?

ahhh......

just rock dude.

To answer, yes, there will be a difference. Ibanez is designed for more speed stuff. BUT, it's rock and roll, who gives a flying ****! Plug it in turn it up and blast the power chords till your neighbors call the cops!

I would highly recomend that you watch the movie "Spinal Tap" Very Good stuff there!

Nope. Different sounds will make you guys "unique". I like that - You are unique, just like everyone else.
