Juju or something else? Where can I look to find serious information on this subject?

traditional african medicine is mainly herbalism (but with a copious topping of hokey spiritualist 'explanations' for why bush-medicine works).

people who want to belittle it call it 'hoodoo' or 'juju' ('voodoo' is usually the dialect of traditional african medical practices which went to new orleans - and the rest of louisiana - with eighteenth century slaves).

a web search on 'african medicine' will give you lots of sites to begin your proper exploration of this subject.

when i lived in africa i passed on a few of the herbal remedies i learned in the black mountains (of wales) and i was accepted as a 'healer' around where i lived.

africans are no more gullible than westerners (how hokey is psychiatry for example?) - they believe in things which work.

I would call them a traditional African doctor who probably has more cures for what ails his or her people.I would think you would refer to a book on African traditions for more consise information.Have a nice day.
