arg a simple check list.

make sure the cables are in the right direction.

the side with two connectors close to each other go on the side with the CD drives. the other side goes to the mobo.

sometimes they are color coated. Blue goes to the mobo. gray and black are master/slave

if your confused about jumper settings. set both of them up as "CABLE SELECT"

make sure both the CD roms have power (i've seen it before dont laugh)

make sure the cables are firmly connected.

But a picture would be great!

well, this could be a bit technical....#1) what is the IDE rate on the burner? all it could be is the fact that the exchange rates from the new motherboard don't match (ie - if the bitrate on the drive is 66mhz, the motherboard A) won't recognize it, or B) you'll see a yellow triange in the device manager. #2) all it could be is the jumper settings on the back of your cd drive. if you still have the origional packaging, set the jumpers on all your drives to "auto-detect"..... but this SHOULD be your first action. #3 thing you need to check is the software your using. granted, nero & roxio burn centers do quite well, but sometimes it's still better to have the origional drivers installed, even if your not using them. (voice of experience). #4) check the device manager to see if the computer even recognizes it's there, if not, try the windows hardware installer, failing that, i'd call the manufacturer for customer service. and find out what kind of motherboard your dealing with. i just set-up a system myself. my 16x dvd player is OLD..... it runs at 25mhz across the motherboard. but it outlasted the hp 8200 cd burner i had (notice i said HAD ), so i had to accomidate that when i went looking at motherboards. now my dvd burner will run at 100/133 mhz, so i ended up going to ASUS simply because it would accomidate everything.

Make sure you don't have two "masters" or "slaves" on the same ribbon cable. Did you possibly break a pin on the mainboard or back of one of the drives in the cable connectors? Check your BIOS and make sure it isn't only wanting to recognize your HDD. Are you overloading your power supply? Newer systems really need at a minimum 400w power supply these days.

The problem could be that u fixed or pluged the plugs wrong.... Check it!!!

or may be in BIOS of your system has disabled to run your CD Rom...so that it would not work... Check that out too!!!
