Heres a quote-
Our hands are more often upon
the bowstring than upon the harp.
-Tolkien

Heres my story-
Of Angels and Children

The first Chapter

It was a cold and desolate night. The rain picked up and began its merciless downpour upon the miserable souls of the city.
One miserable soul that has wandered throughout the day in search for the kindness of a stranger or at least bit of parcel, was destined to meet another that night. This poor wonderer was but a child, an innocent girl who because of her ragged appearance (or more so because of the cruel and uncaring nature of the city's inhabitants) had received no food and no kindness that day. It was sadly expected.
As the night grew colder, and the rain picked up, the girl began a search for shelter. While ducking into the nearest alleyway a very unusual sight caught her eye. Being inexperienced in life she did not understand what she was seeing.
Under a street light kneeled a man facing her, with two white, outstretched wings protruding from his back! He raised his eyes to look at her and she was not afraid. There was a silence broken by the rain as they stared at each other.
This man, if that is what he was, saw the poor child shivering and wet, wearing rags and staring at him through those sad eyes with a courage he has never seen before. Without breaking his glance, he lifted a wing high enough to accommodate her and waited. She perceived his intentions and was not hesitant to accept generosity after a life of neglect since her family died. She stepped forward, her bare feet patting across puddles before finding shelter under his wing.
In a life of doubt and fear never has the girl felt so safe, yet still her hunger prevailed. She would go hungry tonight as she’s done before. Lying there cowered under the extension, the sight of the pale feathers above her brought moisture to her eyes, she noticed that his wings too were worn and tattered like her clothes. Laying cuddled within her dry patch of concrete, she finally finds sleep. The rain poured heavily upon her guardians wings, yet he held them stoically as she slept and stared at the wretched creature. Never has he offered so much before, but why?
Any passerby observant enough to look down the alleyway would see a normal man kneeling on the sidewalk. And upon a closer look would see a girl sleeping beside him, somehow being sheltered from the rain.

She had found salvation, he has found his savior.

One of my favorite quotes is "There are two days in every week which we have no control over----yesterday and tomorrow. Today is the only day we can change."

I like it because it reminds me that I have no control over things that have happened in the past, and I can't change anything that's already happened, so I should make my peace with it. I have known a lot of people, some of whom were almost obsessed with things that were over and done with, yet they still continued tormenting themselves with the "what ifs" and the "if only I had..." thoughts.

So for me, it just reminds me to focus on where I am now and where I want to go. It also reminds me to remember where I've been in my life, but not dwell on it.

I know it isn't witty or cute or funny, but it's something that puts things in perspective for me.

Life is like a roll of toilet paper, the closer you get to the end the faster it goes.

Love is seeing the other persons insanity and agreeing to live there with them.

Insanity is the act of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

A good friend will bail you out of jail, but a great friend will be sitting next to you saying, "See, now wasn't that fun?!

Laugh and the world laughs with you, fall and the world laughs at you.

If I want anymore sh*t out of you I'll squeeze your head.

It's hard to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.

A brave man likes the feel of rain on his face but a wise man knows better to get in out of the rain.

In a battle of wills it is my will against yours and you WILL lose.

Do unto others and run like hell!

It's better to have loved and lost than to never have gotten laid in the first place.

When life gives you lemons,...you suck!

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil. For I am the biggest, baddest motherf**ker in the valley!

If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking seed.

You, are like wet sand in my underwear.

Bosses are like diapers, full of sh*t and all over your a**!

It's hard to soar like an eagle when you work with a bunch of turkeys.

Confucious say, "Man who put hand in pocket feel cocky."

It ain't easy being a dick. First you have a head but no brains. Then you have these two nuts following you around all the time. Your best friends a c*nt and your neighbor's and a**hole.

Hindsight is 20/20...only if you can see out of your a**.

Failure is not having a goal but having no goal to reach.

Maturity begins to grow when you sense your concern for others outweighing your concern for yourself.

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

Education is the power to think clearly, the power to do well in the worlds work and the power to appreciate life.

When you see a worthy person, emulate them, when you see an unworthy person, then examine your inner self.

Freedom from desire leads to inner peace.

He who smiles rather than rages is always the stronger.

The greatest revelation is stillness.

He who understands others is learned. He who knows himself is wise. He who conquers others has muscular strength. He who subdues himself is strong. He who is content is wealthy. He who does not lose his soul will endure.

Kindness in words creates confidence, Kindness in thinking creates profoundness, Kindness in giving creates love.

When all is said and done, there's nothing left to do or say.

Six in one hand, half a dozen in the other.

Sex, drugs, rock n roll. Acid , ludes, birth control. Chips, dips, chains, whips and other sado-masochistic trips!

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty-
They just move it from their faces into their hearts.

We can secure other people's approval, if we do right and try hard; but our own is worth a hundred of it.
--Mark Twain

It reminds me that, even though there is a person in my life, whose approval i will never have, my approval of the things i do, is good enough.

Adam was but human--this explains it all. He did not want the apple for the apple's sake, he wanted it only because it was forbidden. The mistake was in not forbidding the serpent; then he would have eaten the serpent.-Mark Twain
