I think that the most prevalent medicine for pets with arthritis is glucosamine (humans take this too so be careful to get one that is made especially for pets!). Give your pet more fluids and you might consider changing your pet's bedding to an orthopedic type of bed to help relieve pressure in their joints. Also, putting up steps in high areas where your pet usually needs to jump, is very helpful.

Find out more at www.peteducation.com and check out some of the products I mentioned at www.drsfostersmith.com.

I agree with the Glucosamine... My Neighborse had a dog that was so arthritic it had to be carried up stairs, and 2 weeks of glucosamine the dog was 500% better. I've also used it on my horse and it really helped him.

Another thing you can do is to make sure your pet isn't over weight

Warm area to sleep - and a therapeutic material bed (like egg crate foam)

Supplement of glucosamine/Chondroitin Sulfate. MSM will help, as will Hyaluronic Acid (HA).

Talk to your vet about maintenance supplements to make your pet comfortable.
