It depends upon what a university considers animal science. At the University of Maryland and most other land grant schools, Animal Science is essentially animal husbandry (farm animal related). So if you are instersted in cattle, sheep, chickens, pigs, and horses or becoming a vet, that is an animal science degree. Otherwise, zoology is the study of all animals from a more detailed pure science approach.

Successful passes in the above subjects (C or better usually) gains entry to 3rd year and course specific study. The choice of elective courses is limited to your desired field of study, the ones NOT marked as compulory, were my personal choices)

Year 3
Ecology
Bioethics
Invertebrates
Experimental design (evolution)
Molecular ecology
Vertebrates
Animal Physiology
Parasite biology
Reproductive Biology
(ALL compulory for animal bio) **

Of course these are specific to my university and other colleges etc may have a different programme of study. Generally though, they will all be of a similar content to the subjects listed above.
