It smelled fine the whole way from Virginia, but as soon as we got to Laughlin it started to stink, and has ever since. My wifes car did the same thing.

Could be a change in the humidity....or smog.....try changing the air intake filter for the Heater A/C see if there is a lot of miosture when you do....may just be a case of moisture build up and mold growing in the intake tube.

The commone issue with A/C or heating systems is that things like leaves and other crap start to collect where the AC/heat filter screen is. Depending on the car, you should find this where the heat blower is, or between the venting and A/C core.

Sometimes, you need to remove the dash to get to it. Now I figure you are smelling something rotting, so lets just hope that you don't find something dead that crawled up there. I'm not being funny, but rather serious.

It is what everyone says - you moved from a place that was wetter, for lack of a better term. Mold and Mildew don't start to smell until they start to dry out... Either wait it out (ugh) or they make these pellet things that are in a gauze type bag that you hang near your intake vent, you'll notice a difference right away (cinnamon is my recommendation) The mold itself is not really a problem unless you have allergies (you'd be surprised at how much mold and gunk is really in your car!) Do you smoke? Cigarette smoke smells way different in different climates, so if you do smoke don't smoke in the car anymore...

heybongman - maybe you spilled the water.
hahahahahahahaha

okay try the whole getting the filters cleaned and checking for dead stuff ideas, that's gotta be nasty. have you opened your car windows yet and gotten a whiff of Vegas - not much cleaner or healthier than what's in your car.

Because you are using it all the time and mold and mildew are growing in it. Get it cleaned be fore you get sick. My parents ended up in the hospital for thre days with lung infections from the some problem.
