no there is no set time limit on the life of a hard drive it just depends I think of the enviroment around it and the air quality and the work load put on it

you want to hear something almost unbeilevible I got a wang server and three terminals from OSU ifrom a callege that was updating
and that wwas over 50 years ago and it still has the original hard drives running strong!!! no problem LOL
does great for word processing but that is about it LOL
but I perfer my pc networked computers LOL

No time frame for a hard disc.
a harddisc may die, while the head alignment problem or disc sector problem

There is no defined time as such, but it entirely depends upon your usage, and how better you avoid bad sectors..

The movement bad sectors gets created on your initial sectors of your hard drives, the possiblility of your drive crashing is high.

2-5 years of regular use use, I'd say. Depends on brand, environment, fequency of use, etc.
