Try and get with Steve Taylor. He is a former singer/songwriter. He then went on to help write and produce for groups like the Newsboys. He also is involved in producing movies too. He was one of the earliest (if not the first) christian music individual who did the whole music-video thing. I met him and saw his Lifeboat video and he really influenced my life. He was at a conference and when it was time for him to go to lunch he refused because there were still people in line wanting to get autographs and to talk with him. I was at the very end of the line and he took whatever time was needed to speak with each and every person. Very cool.

This is a rather personal question, but i'll give it a go.

I think it is best to relate it to every person. Not just talk about how God is our savior, but write about situations and circumstances, from a more personal point-of-view. I dont enjoy many Christian songs partly because they are all singing about the same thing over and over.

Successful Christian music to cross the border of reaching non-believers are rare. I myself am not a Christian, but i have heard a few songs. (the less noisy ones by Relient K etc)

From my observations, the type of Christian songs that can reach more people are the ones that are more subtle, and not just screaming out your love for God every line.

If you want to get yourself known as a Christian Singer, then get yourself gigs at various churches, many have social functions and look for Christian entertainment. Put out a flyer, and perhaps do a bit of a door knock, or just drop them off at various churches, and look into any Christian labels, who might be willing to help you produce a record.

I myself am a christian singer/songwriter hopeful. I write plenty of lyrics and here is my advice. There are soo many christian songs out there that if you really want to make a difference and stand out, you need to be ORIGINAL. Use your life, expirences, catch frases, ya da ya da, to make the song become something nice, fresh and new.

Make the website listed below your friend, protect your work, the law now is that once published (sheet music or recorded) it is copyrighted material, but if someone should infringe your copyright and you have not registered, you are not eligible for damages, but go to the website; if you are looking for something more, let me know, I have a number of family members who are writers in the gospel realm

i am not a christian so i hope you will not go all gospel in your song writing. i suggest listening to U2 or Jars of Clay for insperation.
i suggest writing about the life now. life which effects all creed. not only christians. plus christian music need a swift kick in the behind so go all aggresive on it. it did not reach thirteen but i think this is enuff. good luck and god bless.

Do anything for record deals, rob banks to get the money for a session, never sleep with your drummer...oops, I mean...
"Let God lead the way."

But seriously, if you believe you can make it (and if you're good enough, cuz face it-there's a lot of people out there fighting for the same thing as you are), then you will...somehow.

Keep the faith...it's a long, hard journey if your looking to earn a living from it. Best to keep your day job and continue singing/writting as something you like to do...
