I don't know about your injury, I'm sure it's far worse than mine was. But I was in a car wreck last year and broke my collar bone in exactly the place where the tendon of my neck attatched to it, so everytime I shifted my head I got searing pain...somethign I do all night anyway. I also broke my foot and cracked my shin. It was difficult to sleep in any way. What I had to do was build up a bunch of pillows so I was in the most comfortable position and didn't really have anywhere to move in my sleep. I couldn't take the pain medicine they gave me cause it made me feel too weird and I was afraid I would get addicted. So when the pain got real bad, I learned how to meditate. I meditated on the pain, concentrating on it and telling myself the pain was just a signal to my brain. eventually my body released some natural endorphines and I was able to sleep pretty well.

Ask your dr. to prescribe apo-amitritaline. I use this and also deal with daily pain. I was told that it is not likely to be habit forming.
